Subject: JBMFP (the John Bachar Memorial
Face Problem)
Rating: V5
Quality: 4 star
Location: Joshua Tree
Notes: Balancy
JBMFP is one of the classic testpieces of JTree. Number-wise
it may not seem like much, but this climb is old school
man! Its thin, its balancy, its painful, and its got cruxy
moves well off the deck. First ascented by the legend
John Bachar back in the '80s, this problem is a must-do
for any aspiring Josh bouldering fanatic.
The problem climbs the dead center of a diamond shaped
boulder. Start at head high knobby edges, pull up and
into razorblade sidepulls while working those feet on
the delicate thin edges. The holds get progressively thinner
and farther apart as the climb continues. Finish with
a big move for the lip just left of the apex of the boulder.
The problem is about 15ft. tall.
