Subject: Buzzsaw
Rating: V9/10
Quality: 3 stars
Location: Black Mountain
Notes: Excellent Line
This esthetically pleasing problem sits in the heart
of Boulder Basin campground, ascending the backside of
the large "Boneheads" boulder. First ascented
in the fall of 1994 by Louie Anderson. Louie recounts
his memories from that day -
"Some knucklehead was cutting up downed trees that
weekend to get some firewood. The sound of his chainsaw
was in the background for most of the afternoon I was
working on it. That's where the name came from. I had
originally thought it was V9. "
A cheatstone, or pad stacking may be needed to reach
the first holds - a flat edge and a sidepull crimp. Cruxy,
technical moves across a gently overhanging face lead
to juggy holds well off-the-deck. The problem finishes
about 16ft up, on terrain that may be somewhat dirty.
