Subject: Cole Arete
Rating: V2
Quality: 1 star
Location: Joshua Tree
Notes: Has an adventurous feel to it
Cole Arete is a tall and proud arete line! It makes a
great stepping stone on the list of any aspiring JTree
highballist. The problem has tricky moves for the first
12 feet or so, then easier climbing on questionable rock
for the airy topout. The climb has been around forever.
Given the name Cole Arete, its possible that it was put
up by Charles Cole. If thats the case than this problem
could be more than 30 years old.
Climbs a blunt arete, starting at a black fin and a thin
crack about seven feet up. Climb the cruxy first half
of the climb to better holds higher up. The upper half
has some grainy rock with a few hollow sounding plates.
18ft. tall.
