Subject: Fry Problem
Rating: V2
Quality: 3 stars
Location: Joshua Tree
Notes: Classic JTree within reach of all levels!
The Fry Problem is a classic example of Joshua Tree bouldering,
at a moderate grade. It has all the elements - technical
climbing on a vertical/mildly overhanging boulder of undulating,
weather sculpted Monzonite - has a great sequence - has
friction dependant slopers - meets the 15 ft. minimum
height requirement for JTree "classic" - you
have to walk across the open desert to get to it - and
it has a solid (read: sandbag) grade! Put up
by Craig Fry many moons ago (about 10,000!), this problem
is Joshua Tree bouldering at its finest!
This problem starts old school style...standing, at a
footlong diagonal sloper. From there, a couple of tricky
sloper moves get you to an incut hold. The finish consists
of long reaches between large holds, finishing at the
apex of the boulder.
