From the stand, this problem is also referred to as the
Hoch Mantel. I have heard conflicting rumors that Matt
Hoch did this problem first, hence the name. One thing
for sure is that Dan Mills did it first from a low sit
start. Dan gave this start a V8 grade, but given the fact
that nobody seems to be able to repeat it, suggests that
the climb could be harder! The sit start relies on a rickety
flake that will most likely break sometime soon. This
will prolly render the problem unclimbable.
The original problem starts at the ultra clean lip of
the overhang. Pull on and claw around on the glassy slab
for small edges that seem to hide in the shiny reflection
of the rock. Pull over and...done!
