Subject: Methane
Rating: V5
Quality: 3 stars
Location: Tram
Notes: Interesting features on great rock
Methane is somewhat of a Tram classic. It climbs across
the landmark Methane boulder in the heart of the Beach
area. First climbed by Rob Mulligan back in the earlier
days of Tram, and named in honor of the Gas that Frank
Cornelius had that day. The problems traverses a squashed
ball of green and black streaked granite with cool slashes,
slots and knobs.
Sit start at an obvious juggy set of holds. Traverse
left for about 8ft., above a low roof, on rails that get
progressively smaller and thinner, until its possible
to go up on a small black knob and a hand sized flat black
knob. The climb finishes about 10ft. high, with large
tree roots at the base.
It should be noted that there are several variation/extension
possibilities. Sit start directly beneath the knob finish
for a good V4. Or, start 12ft. further to the right for
Methamphetamine V7. Add this long start to an extended
finish, traversing 25+ft. total, for Meth Lab V9.
