Subject: Shades of the Old School
Rating: V2
Quality: 4 stars
Location: Tram
Notes: Climbs an amazing black streak
Shades of the Old School is yet another of Tram's primo
highballs. It's a solid 25ft. tall, with a committing
"point of no return" crux section that clearly
draws a line in the sand. Those that cross the line don't
come back (downclimbing, that is)! FA'd by Rob Mulligan
in the early days of Tram, this problem went unnamed until
Joe Morgan dubbed it Shades of the Old School.
The problem starts straight under the prominent black
streak, with a bit of funk. But the enticing, just out
of reach jugs, seem to keep most trying. Surmount the
jugs at the halfway point on the boulder, dig deep into
your bag of courage, then strike off into the cruxy "no
fall zone". Faint holds high up provide a scant thread
of hope on this immaculate tapestry of green and black.
