Subject: Thin Lizzy
Rating: V8
Quality: 2 stars
Location: Joshua Tree
Notes: Steep crank
Discovered and first ascented by Rob Mulligan in around
'02, Thin Lizzy exemplifies the shift in jtree bouldering
from blank, desperate slabs to steep gymnastic climbing.
Some questions have been floating around in reguards the
problems climbability due to holds that have broken. However,
recent ascents have concluded that the problem is still
pretty much the same, and infact, may actually be slightly
easier. The problem still has some loose plates on the
face, and when these plates finally do clean off, the
problem will no doubt become one of the more popular testpieces
in the park.
Sit start in the cave, at an obvious jug/rail. Bust a
huge move to plate edges and continue up the face on more
plates. The problem is about 9 or 10 ft. tall and has
a 2ft. down step behind the landing, which can mess with
ones mind if not spotted correctly.
